The iCarsoft 16 to 20 pin adaptor is designed to only be used with iCarsoft BMM V1.0 & BMM V2.0 products.

One end of the adaptor is plugged into the vehicle diagnostic port, and the other end is plugged into the BMM V1.0 or BMM V2.0 kit.

Only suitable for vehicles with the round 20 pin port which is found next to the engine. 1997 to 2000 model years cars covered. 

If your car is a 2001 onwards car then the chances are you will not have the round OBD port, and you would not need to use this adaptor. 

Any car which is 2001 onwards should have the rectangular 16 pin OBD2 port installed, in which case you can use the BMM V1.0 or BMM V2.0 without any adaptors.
