Subaru Legacy Car Warning Lights

Subaru Legacy 4th generation airbag warning dash light - if the airbag light is illuminated on your Legacy dashboard it indicates a problem within the airbag module. Sometimes it can just be a loose connection or sometimes it can be more serious. To find & fix the airbag problem you need to use a diagnostic code reader which cover the airbag system (be careful, not all diagnostic code scanners cover the airbag/SRS module). Subaru Legacy 4th generation ABS dash light - if this light illuminates it indicates that you have a problem with your ABS module. It could be a serious problem, or it could be something smaller like an ABS sensor which needs to be changed which is most likely. Subaru Legacy check engine warning light - this warning light represents a malfuntion with the engine, it may or may not be serious, generally though it would just be a new sensor which is needed such as camshaft, crankshaft or lambda. You can do your own diagnosis by using the iCarsoft i903 Subaru OBD Code Reader kit which will read out the Subaru problem code or Subaru fault code, once the fault has been fixed the code can be cleared from the system memory and the light can be removed from the dashboard.

Subaru Legacy vehicle dynamics control dashboard warning light - This light comes on when the ignition switch is ON and goes out approximately 2 seconds later. It blinks when the skid suppression function is activated. It illuminates when only the traction control function is operating. The Vehicle Dynamics Control system is probably faulty under any of the following conditions. Have your vehicle checked at a SUBARU dealer immediately.

- The light does not come on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position.
- The light does not go out even after a period of approximately 2 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned to the “ON” position. 

 

Subaru Legacy VDC OFF dashboard warning light - this warning light has both the function of indicating faults in the Vehicle Dynamics Control system and the function of indicating that the Vehicle Dynamics Control system has been deactivated. It comes on in the event of a fault in the system and is on when the system is not operating.

This warning light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and goes out after the engine has started. It indicates that the Vehicle Dynamics Control system is in normal operation.

The Vehicle Dynamics Control system is probably inoperative under any of the following conditions. Have your vehicle checked at a SUBARU dealer immediately.

- The warning light does not come on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position. 

Subaru Legacy Tyre Pressure dashboard warning light - indicates that one or more of your tyres is not inflated to the correct pressure, please check your tyre pressures. 

Subaru Legacy SPORT dashboard warning light - This light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and goes out after the engine has started. When the selector lever is moved to the manual gate, the SPORT mode is selected and the indicator light comes on.

Subaru Legacy Shift Up dashboard warning light - when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position, the indicator light comes on for 3 seconds, and then turns off. While selecting the Intelligent (I) mode of SIDRIVE, this indicator light comes on and informs the upshift timing to the driver for fuel-efficient driving 

Subaru Legacy SET dashboard warning light - The cruise control SET indicator light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and goes out after approximately three seconds. This light comes on when vehicle speed has been SET. 

Subaru Legacy Security dashboard warning light - this indicator light shows the status of the alarm system. It also indicates operation of the immobilizer system.

- Alarm system
It blinks to show the driver the operational status of the alarm system.

- Immobilizer system
This light blinks approximately 60 seconds after the ignition switch is turned from “ON” position to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position or immediately after the key is pulled out.  If the indicator light does not flash, it may indicate that immobilizer system may be faulty. Contact your nearest SUBARU dealer immediately. In the event that an unauthorized key (for example, an unauthorized duplicate) is used, the security indicator light comes on. 

Subaru Legacy DRL dashboard light - indicates that your DRL or daylight running lights are switched on. 

Subaru Legacy AWD dashboard light - the All-Wheel Drive warning light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and goes out after the engine has started.

- For 5-speed automatic transmission vehicles This light flashes if the vehicle is driven with tires of different diameters fitted on its wheels or with the air pressure excessively low in any of its tires.  

- For 4-speed automatic transmission vehicles This light comes on when All-Wheel Drive is disengaged and the drive mechanism is switched to Front Wheel Drive for maintenance or similar purposes. This light flashes if the vehicle is driven with tires of different diameters fitted on its wheels or with the air pressure excessively low in any of its tires. 

Subaru Legacy AT OIL TEMP warning light - the AT oil temperature warning light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and goes out after approximately two seconds. If this light comes on when the engine is running, it may indicate that the automatic transmission fluid temperature is too hot. If the light comes on while driving, it is unnecessary to stop the vehicle, but avoid driving up steep grades or in stop-and-go traffic. 
Subaru Legacy Oil light

Subaru Legacy oil pressure warning light - if illuminated when driving it means that the oil pressure is low and needs to be topped up as soon as possible. If the oil symbol remains on after you have topped up and checked levels are within limits you will need to contact your Subaru workshop or independant garage.
Subaru Legacy petrol light

Subaru Legacy fuel warning dash light - indicates that you need to fill up on petrol/diesel/gas. 
Subaru Legacy parking brake or brake fluid

Subaru Legacy parking brake or brake fluid dash warning light - this light is illuminated when the park brake is applied, the warning light should go out when the parking brake is released. If the light does not go out it indicates that the brake fluid level in the reservior is low and you need to pull over and top up at your first opportunity.

Subaru Legacy door open dash warning light - indicates that a door is still open, please check and close correctly.
